Design Phase
Design phase project management begins with the preparation of a detailed project schedule. One of the key elements of project schedule preparation is the definition of a critical path. The project schedule allows the project manager to coordinate with the team to ensure that all deadlines are being met. This schedule is revised on a weekly basis to ensure that it reflects all changes made during the course of the project. This weekly review includes an assessment of the progress of all critical path items. At the completion of the weekly review, the project manager will typically hold a brief weekly status meeting with the client and consulting team to identify areas of concern. This meeting allows the client, consultants and project manager to identify constraints and develop solutions before a project is adversely affected.
